Spend a Week with Lance Mackey

Live in the heat of the moment with a world-class dog musher.

This amazing opportunity consists of one week shadowing Iditarod and Yukon Quest Champion Lance Mackey. One fortunate individual will get to live with Lance during the peak of the distance race training season.

This is not a guided trip, but a genuine experience of walking in Lance Mackey’s boots as he cares for dogs and rides the runners on wilderness trails in the heart of the Alaskan winter. This adventure places you in the kennel right next to Lance as a handler and dog driver of your own team. It begins with you working directly with Lance caring for the dogs and assisting with their training. When Lance eats, you eat; when he hooks up, you hook up; when he sleeps you sleep.

At weeks end you will be a part of the team as a handler during a race. Be an integral part of the Comeback Kennels training season and learn from an eight time 1000 mile race champion. This opportunity is only being offered once during the 2015 training season.
