When this feature aired in Alaska on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered Show, Lance and his dogs had moved to the front of the pack about six and a half hours into the 2015 Yukon Quest.   The story, Facing 1,000 Miles of Frigid Winds with Loyal Dogs and Willpower, by Daniel Hajek with contributions from KUAC’s Emily Schwing concludes:

“Out in the frozen wilderness, somewhere between Whitehorse and Fairbanks: he says that’s where he likes to be.

As long as dogs are willing, Mackey says he’ll keep racing.”
